I was up at 5:30 (how in the HELL does one do this every day?!?) making breakfast, laying out clothes, and downing massive amounts of coffee. We headed out around 7:30, everyone excited and apprehensive.
I walked the boys to class, and at one point along the way I instinctively reached for Cayden's hand. It was like something on a really bad TV movie as he looked up at me and shoved his hands in his pockets.
I wanted to strangle that kid. I wanted to shake him and remind him that I gave BIRTH to him. I BREASTFED him. I CHANGED his POOPY DIAPERS. ME!!! He was selling out on me way too quickly. Instead, I smiled knowingly, and we walked into his class. Somehow, I managed to get a little hug before I left.
When Jordan and I reached his class, I knew I couldn't take rejection twice in one morning. I just held out my hand and he gave me a "five" before he turned into his class. Damn kids. Who said they get to grow up and get all independent anyway?
I made it all the way to the truck before the tears started to fall. I called my husband. All he could really do was offer feeble amounts of sympathy in response to my incoherent babble and sobs. Poor guy. What else was he supposed to do 600 miles away? Demand that I go get them and homeschool?!?
So, they survived, and even had fun. Lunch was great, they said.
As for me? I just wish school started at noon instead of 8. This 5:3O thing is going to kill me. I'm sure of it.
Aren't they handsome?

They are very handsome and do grow so quickly. Now you have to teach them how to make PopTarts, Eggos, and Toaster Strudels on thier own so you can sleep in.... Course that isn't to say they will remember to brush their teeth or tie their shoes. None the less, you will All be fine. I wish I could come over to visit in the morning and have a cup of coffee or two. It would be nice to visit with ya! In the meantime, I will just wait for your next installment!

I just had this same experience. I felt torn into pieces. Knowing that what I was doing was what is needed, but feeling like I had just given my children away!
They will be just fine and so will we. :)
Now, what will you do with your time?
sunshyne,
Hi!, it's Sharon.......we swapped some MFW curriculum earlier this year and I've tried to contact you with email and it bounced back to me. I finally remembered you had a blog .......I also wanted to let you know that 3 of my 4 dc also go to public school. I'm only doing homeschool with my 5yo.
Anyway, I'm ready to "swap back"......I don't know if I should leave my email here. Hmmmm. If you'll join the new yahoo group MFWFamilies you can contact me that way. The MFW curriculum group has changed to MFWcurriculumexchange......
Hope to hear from you!
